Preparation Instructions for Our Products

Dips: Deliciously Dill ~ French Crème ~ Ruth's Original Blend ~ Salade Mediterranean ~ Sizzlin' Santa Fe ~ Spinach Dip

Deliciously Dill

For Dip Mix:
In a small bowl, mix together the spice packet with the following:
3/4 cup sour cream*
3/4 cup mayonnaise*

* For a "Skinnier" Dip, substitute non-fat or low-fat sour cream and mayonnaise.

Refrigerate until ready to serve. Enjoy with your favorite vegetables, crackers or chips.  Refrigerate any remaining dip. 


 

French Crème

Can be used as a Salad Dressing or Dip.

For French Crème Salad Dressing:
In a small bowl, mix together the entire spice packet with:
1 cup mayonnaise*
2 Tbsp lemon juice
and add enough milk* to thin the dressing to the desired consistency.

For Thousand Island Salad Dressing:
Follow instructions above and add 2 tsp of pickle relish.
* For a "Skinnier" Dressing, substitute non-fat or low-fat mayonnaise and use skim milk to thin.

For Dip Mix:
In a small bowl, mix together the entire spice packet with 8 ounces of sour cream**.

** For a "Skinnier" Dip, substitute non-fat or low-fat sour cream or plain yogurt.

Allergy Information: This product contains dairy products.
 

 

 

Ruth's Original Onion Herb Blend

For Dip Mix:
In a small bowl, mix together 2 teaspoons of the spice packet with the following:
8 ounces cream cheese*
1/2 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon lemon juice
2 tablespoons milk, to thin*

* For a "Skinnier" Dip, substitute non-fat or low-fat cream cheese and milk.

Refrigerate until ready to serve. Enjoy with your favorite vegetables, crackers or chips.  Refrigerate any remaining dip. 

For Butter Herb Spread:
In a small bowl, mix 2 teaspoons of the spice packet with 1 stick (8 tbsp) of softened butter**

Spread on your favorite bread and heat.

** For a "Skinnier" Spread, substitute margarine for butter.

For Potato Topping:
In a small bowl, mix 1 teaspoon of the spice packet with 8 ounces sour cream***

*** For a "Skinnier" topping, substitute low- or non-fat sour cream or yogurt.


 

Salade Mediterranean

For Salad Dressing:
In a small bowl, mix together spice packet with the following:
1/4 cup lemon juice
1/2 cup olive oil
1/2 cup grated romano cheese

Serve immediately and refrigerate after use.

For Seasoned Salad Sprinkle:
Mix entire spice packet with 1/2 cup grated romano cheese.

 

 

Sizzlin' Santa Fe Dip

For Dip Mix:
In a small bowl, mix together the spice packet with the following:
1 cup sour cream*


* For a "Skinnier" dip, substitute low- or non-fat sour cream.

For extra sizzle, add hot sauce to taste.

Refrigerate until ready to serve. Enjoy with your favorite vegetables, crackers or chips.  Refrigerate any remaining dip. 

Makes 1 cup of dip.


 

Spinach Dip

For Spinach Dip:
In a small bowl, mix together the spice packet with the following:
1 cup sour cream*
1 cup mayonnaise*
1 package (10 oz) frozen, chopped spinach, thawed & drained
 

* For a "Skinnier" Dip, substitute non-fat or low-fat sour cream and mayonnaise.

Refrigerate until ready to serve. Enjoy with your favorite crackers or bread. 

Makes 2 cups of Dip.


 

All American Chicken & Stars

Combine spice packet with 10 cups of water and bring to a boil.  Add contents of bag and simmer for 10-12 minutes or until vegetables are soft.  Salt & Pepper to taste.  Soup will thicken upon standing.

Makes 6 servings.

For variety, add cooked chicken.


 

Positively Potato

Combine contents of Positively Potato Soup bag and spice packet with 2 cups of water, 6 cups of milk and 1 Tablespoon of butter or margarine in a large sauce pan.  Bring to a boil.  Reduce heat and simmer for 10-12 minutes or until hash brown potato slices are soft.  Salt & pepper to taste.  Additional liquid may be added to achieve desired consistency.  (Soup will thicken upon standing).  Makes 6 servings. 

For variety:  Add corn, cooked sausage, ham, broccoli, peas, cooked clams or oysters, asparagus, or jalapeno peppers.

Ruth's Soup Mix

1 pkg of SOS Soup mix with spice packet
6 cups of water
1 clove garlic, minced
1 small onion, diced
1/4 cup chopped celery
1/4 cup chopped green pepper
1/2 lb. lean diced ham
Optional:
1 [32 oz] can crushed tomatoes

Remove spice packet and set aside.  Rinse beans, removing any debris.  Place beans covered with water in a microwave-safe covered dish.  Microwave at 100% power for 15 minutes.  (Beans may be soaked overnight instead of precooking in microwave.) Drain and rinse beans.  Meanwhile, sauté onion, garlic, green pepper and celery in 1 tbsp olive oil or butter.  Assemble first six ingredients, except spice packet in large pot on stove.  Bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover and simmer gently 3 1/2 hours or until beans are tender.  Add water as needed so beans are kept covered with liquid.  Add ham, spice packet, and tomatoes after beans are tender; simmer for about one hour.  NOTE: Tomatoes and salt will slow the cooking of the beans - add towards end of cook time. 


 

Sensational Split Pea Soup Mix

Sort and rinse peas.  Combine in large saucepan:  8 cups water PLUS dried split peas.  Heat to boiling.  Reduce heat, cover, and simmer over medium heat for 30 minutes.

Sauté in skillet over medium heat:
1 1/2 Tbsp butter or margarine
1/2 cup chopped onion
contents of spice packet included in soup mix

Stir-fry about 7 minutes.  Stir spice mixture into split peas, cover and cook over low heat for 20 minutes.  Cool slightly.

Stir in:
1/2 cup cream or half-and-half
1/2 lb. diced ham or bacon (optional)

Heat to serving temperature.  If soup is too thick, thin with small amount of water or milk.


 

Chewy Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookie Mix

Place contents of bag in a bowl.  If necessary, remove brown sugar and microwave to soften.  Stir in the following:
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 cup butter, melted

Mix thoroughly and drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets.

Bake at 350 degrees for 9-11 minutes.  Remove from baking sheet to cooling rack immediately.  Cookie will continue to set up during cooling.

Makes 2-3 dozen cookies.

Chocolate Cherry Supremes Cookie Mix

Place contents of bag in a bowl.  If necessary, remove brown sugar and microwave to soften.  Stir in the following:
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted

Mix thoroughly and drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto cookie sheets.

Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes.  Allow cookies to cool, and enjoy!

Makes 2 dozen cookies.

Cranberry Yogurt Cookie Mix

In large mixing bowl, mix together:
1 egg
1/3 cup butter

Combine with contents of SOS cookie bag.  Mix thoroughly and drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet.  Bake at 375 for 10 minutes or until golden brown.  Allow cookies to cool, and enjoy.

Makes 2 dozen cookies.

Double Chocolate Kiss of Mint Cookie Mix

Place contents of bag in a bowl.  If necessary, remove brown sugar and microwave to soften.  Stir in the following:
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 cup butter, melted

Mix thoroughly and drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets.

Bake at 350 degrees for 9-11 minutes.  Remove from baking sheet to cooling rack immediately.  Cookie will continue to set up during cooling.

Makes 2-3 dozen cookies.

Grandma's Ultimate Oatmeal Cookie Mix

Place contents of bag in a bowl.  If necessary, remove brown sugar and microwave to soften.  Stir in the following:
1 egg
1/3 cup shortening
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 tablespoon water

Mix thoroughly and drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets.

Bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes.  Allow cookies to cool, and enjoy.

Makes 2 dozen cookies.

Vanilla Hazelnut Cookie Mix

Place contents of bag in a bowl.  If necessary, remove brown sugar and microwave to soften.  Stir in the following:
1 egg
1/3 cup butter or margarine
1/2 tsp. vanilla


Mix thoroughly and drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets.

Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes, or until lightly browned. Allow cookies to cool, and enjoy.

Makes 2 dozen cookies.

Allergy Information: This product contains wheat and nuts.
 


 

Turtle Brownies

Place contents of bag in a bowl.
Add 1/3 C. of hot water.

Mix thoroughly and pour into greased 8x8 pan or 9 inch pie plate.  Bake at 325 degrees for 22 minutes.

Allow to cool, cut into squares and enjoy!

Options:
For more cake-like brownies, increase hot water from 1/3 C. to 1/2 C.  For additional caramel taste, drizzle 1/4 C. caramel sauce on top before cutting into squares.
